Training Day

17/06/2023 @ 9:00 am - 4:30 pm

Those signing up early, will be given priority for training aboard their own boat.

Where and When?

Participants to assemble in the bar at the Golf Club no later than 09:30 Teas and Coffees will be laid on by the Club. The morning session 9.30 -11.30 will be theory, followed by practical sessions from 12.30pm

What do we have planned?

John Branson of Lady H, has kindly agreed to lead this practical session which will be geared to imparting tips for close quarter boat handling, including hands on instruction aboard members’ own vessels.

This will be a fun event – all about helping each participant save their blushes with an eye to reduced future spend on gel coat repairs and improved boating etiquette from behind the wheel. The training will take place within and in the vicinity of the marina and in the nearby locks.

The session will offer equal benefit to those who routinely helm and those who may only do so occasionally – for example, should an emergency arise. What would you do if you had to take over? How would you seek help and how would you safely control the boat?

How you can help?

We are seeking a minimum of three skippers to participate, and support John with the delivery.

Boring but important:

The New Harleyford Motor Yacht Club is a social members’ club, run by and for members. Each of us contributes a modest fee, which this year is an absolute bargain, at £25! As with all events, participation will be strictly at own risk.

Come prepared

Please dress for forecasted weather, and arrived  equipped with life jackets and a note pad.

The viability of this key social event, hinges on there being sufficient interest. Please sign up now to help us collectively offer John early clarity on numbers, to inform his planning and engagement with the wider skipper team.
